    Abstract

This thesis, developed within the framework of the Centro Universitário Internacional UNINTER, in the Graduate Program in Education and New Technologies (PPGENT), is linked to the Area of Concentration in Education and New Technologies, the Research Line on Teacher Education and New Technologies in Education, and the Research Project: Educational Policies, Right to Education, and Digital Technologies in Teacher Education. The investigation aims to understand the foundations that characterize digital teaching as an emerging professional construct in higher education within the context of Distance Education (DE), in light of the transformations brought about by digital culture, as proposed by Michel Serres (2013), within the context of the infosphere. The research is grounded in the recognition that contemporary education faces challenges imposed by the social, cultural, and technological transformations of digital society. The study is based on theoretical contributions that support the analysis of digital culture, teaching, and educational technologies. The contributions of Michel Serres (2013) stand out, particularly regarding the digital revolution, which should not be understood merely as a technical innovation, but as a structural anthropological rupture; Luciano Floridi (2014), whose philosophical approach, through the concept of the infosphere, enables the understanding of contemporary digital culture; Vani Moreira Kenski (2003, 2007, 2013, 2019), a central author in discussions on education, technologies, teaching, and distance education; and Álvaro Vieira Pinto (2005), who supports a critical and historical understanding of technology. The thesis proposes an expanded understanding of digital culture within the context of the infosphere — a hybrid environment that dissolves the boundaries between the physical and the digital, demanding new forms of citizenship, responsibility, and knowledge production. The adopted methodology is qualitative, using bibliographic and documentary procedures, grounded in the theoretical frameworks of Antonio Joaquim Severino (2013) and Silvio Sánchez Gamboa (2018) and Vosgerau e Romanowski (2014). The research corpus consisted of scientific productions and institutional documents addressing teaching in Distance Education, digital culture, teacher identity, collaborative practices, and methodological innovation. The analysis revealed that digital teaching constitutes a non-consolidated theoretical construct that goes beyond the instrumental use of technologies and requires reconfigurations in teaching practices and institutional structures. The results indicate that digital teaching demands collaborative and multiprofessional performance capable of promoting meaningful, interactive, and student-centered learning experiences. The thesis argues that, in the contemporary scenario, teachers must assume a new role grounded in collaboration, innovation, and pedagogical sensitivity. As a product of the research, the study proposes a continuing teacher education program for professional practice in Distance Education, based on the theoretical and analytical findings developed throughout this investigation.
